CONNECTORS

Use LabelRoot with Claude

The LabelRoot connector gives Claude two read-only product-identity tools: it can validate a UPC, EAN, or GTIN and format the candidate LabelRoot GS1 Digital Link, or look up the published product page for a GTIN. It does not edit products, publish pages, or access a LabelRoot account.

IN SHORT

  • Works through LabelRoot's public Streamable HTTP MCP server.
  • Format a candidate GS1 Digital Link from a valid product identifier.
  • Resolve a GTIN to the product name, brand, description, and published call to action.
  • No LabelRoot account or authentication is required; both tools are read-only.

Step by step

  1. 01
    Connect LabelRoot

Open https://labelroot.com/connect/claude to prefill LabelRoot as a custom connector, then review and confirm the server URL in Claude. No LabelRoot account is required.

  2. 02
    Give Claude a product identifier

Paste a GTIN-8, UPC-A, EAN-13, or GTIN-14 and ask Claude to validate it, format its candidate GS1 Digital Link, or check what LabelRoot has published for it.

  3. 03
    Review the result before print

Confirm the exact product and identifier with the brand, printer, and retail partners. LabelRoot validates the check digit and URI structure; it does not issue GTINs or certify artwork.

What Claude can do with LabelRoot

Ask Claude to turn a product's UPC or EAN into the zero-padded GTIN-14 used in a GS1 Digital Link, then format the candidate LabelRoot /01/{GTIN} address. This is useful when planning a product QR code; the route is not active until the GTIN is registered in LabelRoot.

For products already published on LabelRoot, Claude can retrieve the product name, brand, description, and call to action. That makes the connector useful for checking a specific packaged product without giving Claude access to a private catalog or dashboard.

Prompts that exercise every tool

Try these examples after connecting LabelRoot. Use a product identifier you own or are authorized to verify when the result will inform packaging or production work.

  • Validate UPC 860001234565 and format its candidate LabelRoot GS1 Digital Link.
  • Resolve GTIN 00860001234565 and summarize the published LabelRoot product page.
  • Does 00860001234565 have a valid check digit, and what LabelRoot-format address could be tested for its product QR code?

Connection and data boundaries

The connector URL is https://labelroot.com/mcp. It uses the Streamable HTTP transport and requires no authentication because it exposes only public product-identity functions and public LabelRoot product data.

The connector receives the GTIN supplied to a tool and the technical request metadata needed to return and secure the response. It does not request Claude conversation history, files, memories, account data, health data, or payment information. See the LabelRoot privacy policy for details.

Troubleshooting

If Claude says a code is invalid, check that you supplied the digits printed beneath the barcode and that no digits were omitted. UPC-A and EAN-13 identifiers are accepted and padded to GTIN-14 before the check digit is validated.

If a valid GTIN has no published LabelRoot product, the connector says so. That is a lookup result, not an error and not evidence that the GTIN is unassigned outside LabelRoot.

Common questions

01Can Claude change a LabelRoot product page?

No. The directory connector is read-only. It can format candidate GS1 Digital Link addresses and read public LabelRoot product records, but it cannot create, edit, publish, restore, or delete products.

02Does the connector require a LabelRoot account?

No. Both connector tools operate on public product identity and published product data, so there is no sign-in or OAuth flow.

03Does LabelRoot issue or certify GTINs?

No. LabelRoot validates GTIN syntax and check digits and formats the identifier as a GS1 Digital Link. Brands obtain identifiers from GS1 and remain responsible for product identity, artwork, and retail acceptance.
